You are the only one who mentioned dont touch bulb with bare hands as bulb will heat up and blow. Same applies to halogen bulbs for car headlights
Go to local retailer who sells lighting and quote type of bulb or take old bulb into them
The ceiling fan we just installed makes noise when it is on how can we correct this?
my husband decided to install a ceiling fan himself. He was able to balance the blade as not to wobble, however, the fan makes a lot of noise when it is on. Can this be corrected with further adjustmnents or is the fan defective?
Assuming this is a ceiling lamp and fan combined, it does depend on the kind of noise. If it is a buzzing noise then more than likely it is the lamp cover which is held in place by typically 3 screws. They cannot be too tight or the glass breaks when it gets hot. What you can do is to wrap a rubber or sticky tape around the rim of the glass bowl where the holding screws touch the glass and play with how tight or loose to keep the bowl in place without the buzz when the fan is on. You may need to build up a mm or so thickness of tape or you can sometimes buy little adhesive pads to stick on the glass where the screws are.
Why do interior decorators hate ceiling fans?
Everytime I watch any home decorating or remodeling show on tv the decorators go after ceiling fans with extreme predjudice. I rarely see them replace a tacky ceiling fan with a more elegant one, despite the fact there are countless styles available. They prefer to just do away with them all together. What’s up with this? Why decorators hate Ceiling Fans so much? What if you really need and prefer the air circulation?
I, for one, am an interior designer with a penchant for ceiling fans and even have them in almost every room in my home. I’ve used them for years because we are located in a dry almost desert like climate and without ceiling fans our electric bills would look more like a mortgage payment.
That being said, I have found many elegant ceiling fans that can match almost any decor and price point. Since they come in every imaginable finish and wood tone, there is certainly an optically pleasurable option available. Granted, there are a lot of cheesy looking ones available at the discounters. But, I’ve even installed one on my covered patio that everyone who see it finds it attractive.
I have found installing them with ceiling medallions that coodinate with the fan is a most elegant presentation. But, then again, I’ve only been in business 30 years…
